હે ગિલ્બોઆના પર્વતો, તમાંરા પર વરસાદ કે ઝાકળ ન પડો. તમાંરાં ખેતરોમાં કઇ ન ઉપજે જેથી તમાંરા તરફથી કોઇ અર્પણો ન આવે. કારણ, યોદ્ધાઓની ઢાલ નકામી ગણીને ફેંકી દેવામાં આવી હતી અને શાઉલની ઢાલ જે તેલમાં બોળવામાં આવી ન હતી, કાટ ખાઇ ગઇ હતી અને ત્યાં પડેલી છે.

ત્યારે શાઉલે જે માણસ તેના બાણ ઉપાડી રહ્યો હતો તેને કહ્યું, “તારી તરવાર કાઢી મને વીંધી નાખ; નહિ તો આ બે સુન્નતી માણસો આવીને મારી હાંસી ઉડાવશે,”પરંતુ બખ્તર ઉપાડનારની હિંમત ચાલી નહિ એટલે તેણે ના પાડી. આથી શાઉલે પોતે તરવાર ખેંચીને તેની ધાર પર પડતું મુક્યું
