એક વર્ષ બાદ એલ્કાનાહ અને તેનું સમગ્ર કુટુંબ પ્રતિ વર્ષની જેમ યહોવા દેવને પ્રાર્થના અને યજ્ઞ કરવા અને તેણે દેવને આપેલું વચન પૂરુ કરવા શીલોહ ગયાં.

“યહોશુઆએ લોકોને કહ્યું, “પરંતુ જો તમને યહોવાની સેવા કરવાનું પસંદ ના હોય તો તમાંરે કોની પૂજા કરવી છે તેનો આજે જ નિર્ણય કરી લો: જે દેવોને તમાંરા પિતૃઓ ફ્રાત નદીને કાંઠે પૂજતા હતા તેની કે જેમના પ્રદેશમાં તમે વસો છો તે અમોરીઓના દેવોની? પણ હું અને માંરું કુટુંબ તો યહોવાની જ સેવા કરીશું.”
