પરંતુ હું એના પુત્રના હાથમાંથી રાજય ખૂંચવી લઈશ અને તને દસ ટોળીઓ સુપ્રત કરીશ.

આમ, રાજાએ લોકોની વાત પર ધ્યાન આપ્યું નહિ, યહોવાએ શીલોના પ્રબોધક અહિયા માંરફતે નબાટના પુત્ર યરોબઆમને જે સંદેશો મોકલાવ્યો હતો તે પૂરો કરવાનો હતો, તેથી રાજાએ તે પ્રમાંણે વર્તન કર્યુ હતું.

જયારે ઇસ્રાએલના બધા લોકોએ સાંભળ્યું કે, યરોબઆમ પાછો આવ્યો છે, ત્યારે તેમણે તેને ઇસ્રાએલી સભા સમક્ષ બોલાવી, આખા ઇસ્રાએલનો રાજા બનાવ્યો. યહૂદાના કુળસમૂહ સિવાય કોઈ દાઉદના રાજવંશને વફાદાર રહ્યું નહિ.
