તેના સમય દરમ્યાન બેથેલના હીએલે યરીખો નગર ફરી બંધાવ્યું, તેણે જ્યારે તેનો પાયો નાખ્યો ત્યારે તેનો સૌથી મોટો પુત્ર અબીરામ મરી ગયો, અને પોતાનો સૌથી નાનો પુત્ર સગૂબ જ્યારે તેના દરવાજાઓ ઊભા કર્યા ત્યારે મરી ગયો. નૂનના પુત્ર યહોશુઆના શબ્દો, કે જે યહોવાની ભવિષ્યવાણી હતી, આ રીતે સાચી પડી.

પછી અગાઉ જણાવેલ ચાર આગેવાનોએ લૂંટમાંથી કપડાં લઇને બંદીવાનોમાંથી જે સ્ત્રીઓ અને બાળકોને જરૂર હતી ,તેઓને તે પ્રમાણે વહેંચી આપ્યા, તેમજ પગરખાં, ખોરાક અને દ્રાક્ષારસ પણ આપ્યાં, વળી જેઓ બીમાર અને વૃદ્ધ હતા તેઓને ગધેડા ઉપર બેસાડીને ખજૂરીઓનાં નગર યરીખોમાં તેઓનાં કુટુંબ પાસે લઇ ગયા. પછી બંદીવાનો સાથે ગયેલી ટૂકડી સમરૂન પાછી ફરી.
