યોઆબના ભાઈ સરૂયાનો પુત્ર અબીશાય ત્રણ શૂરવીરોમાં સૌથી વધારે શૂરવીર હતો. એક વખતે તેણે એકલા હાથે ત્રણસો માંણસોની સાથે યુદ્ધ કરી તેઓનો સંહાર કર્યો હતો. આ વીરતા ભરેલા કાર્યને લીધે આ ત્રણ શૂરવીરોમાં તે ખૂબ પ્રખ્યાત થયો.

યોઆબનો ભાઇ અબીશાય એ ત્રણ શૂરવીરોનો સરદાર હતો. એક વખત તેણે ભાલા વડે 300 દુશ્મનો સાથે યુદ્ધ કરી તેમને પૂરા કર્યા હતા અને તે ત્રિપુટીમાં પ્રખ્યાત બની ગયો હતો.

સરુયાના ત્રણે દીકરાઓ, યોઆબ,અબીશાય અને અસાહેલ પણ ત્યાં યુદ્ધમાં હતા, અસાહેલ જંગલી હરણની જેમ ખૂબ ઝડપથી દોડી શકતો હતો.

આમ, યોઆબ અને તેના ભાઈ અબીશાયે આબ્નેરને માંરી નાખ્યો, કારણ, તેણે ગિબયોનના યુદ્ધમાં તેમના ભાઈ અસાહેલને માંરી નાખ્યો હતો.

પણ યોઆબના હાથમાંની તરવાર વિષે અમાંસા સાવધાન ન હતો. યોઆબે તેના પેટમાં તરવારથી ઘા કર્યો એટલે તેનાં આંતરડાં જમીન પર પડ્યા, તરત જ તે મૃત્યુ પામ્યો. યોઆબને બીજો ઘા કરવાની જરૂર પડી નહિ,ત્યારબાદ યોઆબ અને તેનો ભાઈ અબીશાય બિખ્રીના પુત્ર શેબા પાછળ પડયા.
