યહૂદાના લોકોએ યહોવાની નજરમાં પાપ ગણાય એવું આચરણ કર્યુ, તેમણે પૂર્વજોએ કરેલાં પાપોથી પણ વધુ પાપો કરી યહોવાનો કોપ વહોરી લીધો.

આમ ઈસ્રાએલીઓ દેવની દૃષ્ટિમાં દુષ્ટ પાપી થઈ ગયા. પોતાના દેવ યહોવાને છોડી બઆલ દેવ અને અશેરોથની પૂજા કરવા લાગ્યા.
