Ecclesiastes 4 - YLT (Gujarati)

1 And I have turned, and I see all the oppressions that are done under the sun, and lo, the tear of the oppressed, and they have no comforter; and at the hand of their oppressors `is' power, and they have no comforter.ત્યારબાદ મેં પાછા ફરીને વિચાર કર્યો, અને દુનિયા પર થતાં ત્રાસ અને દુ:ખ નિહાળ્યાં. ત્રાસ સહન કરનારાઓનાં આંસુ લૂછનાર અને તેમને સાંત્વના આપનાર કોઇ નહોતું; તેઓના પર ત્રાસ કરનારાઓ શકિતશાળી હતાં.

2 And I am praising the dead who have already died above the living who are yet alive.તેથી મને લાગ્યું કે જેઓ હજી જીવતાં છે તેઓ કરતાં જેઓ મૃત્યુ પામ્યા છે તેઓ વધારે સુખી છે;

3 And better than both of them `is' he who hath not yet been, in that he hath not seen the evil work that hath been done under the sun.વળી તે બંને કરતાંય જેઓ હજી જન્મ્યાં જ નથી અને જેઓની આંખોએ ત્રાસ અને દુનિયા પર થતાં ભૂંડા કૃત્યો જોયા નથી તે વધારે સુખી છે.

4 And I have seen all the labour, and all the benefit of the work, because for it a man is the envy of his neighbour. Even this `is' vanity and vexation of spirit.વળી મેં જોયું કે કાર્ય કરવામાં આવડત અને પરિશ્રમને લીધે માણસ અને તેના પડોશી વચ્ચે ઇર્ષા ઉત્પન્ન થાય છે. એ પણ વ્યર્થ તથા હવામાં બાચકા ભરવાં જેવું છે.

5 The fool is clasping his hands, and eating his own flesh:મૂર્ખ કામ કરતા નથી અને પોતાની જાત પર બરબાદી લાવે છે.

6 `Better `is' a handful `with' quietness, than two handfuls `with' labour and vexation of spirit.'અતિ પરિશ્રમ કરી અને પવનને પણ પકડવાના પ્રયત્નો કરી પુષ્કળ કમાવું તે કરતાં શાંતિસહિત થોડું કમાવું વધારે સારું છે.

7 And I have turned, and I see a vain thing under the sun:ત્યારબાદ હું પાછો ફર્યો, અને મેં દુનિયા ઉપર વ્યર્થતા જોઇ.

8 There is one, and there is not a second; even son or brother he hath not, and there is no end to all his labour! His eye also is not satisfied with riches, and `he saith not', `For whom am I labouring and bereaving my soul of good?' This also is vanity, it is a sad travail.જો માણસ એકલું હોય, અને તેને એક પુત્ર કે એક ભાઇ પણ ન હોય; છતાંય તે વધુ ધન પ્રાપ્ત કરવાં ખૂબ પરિશ્રમ કર્યા કરે છે “તેને સંતોષ નથી પણ આ પરિશ્રમ તે કોના માટે કરે છે? શા માટે તે પોતાને આનંદથી દૂર રાખે છે? “આ સર્વ પરિશ્રમ ફકત અક્કલહીન છે! અને તે ખોટનો ધંધો છે.

9 The two `are' better than the one, in that they have a good reward by their labour.એક કરતાં બે ભલા; કારણ કે બંનેએ સાથે મળીને કરેલી મહેનતનું ઘણું વધારે સારું ફળ તેઓને મળે છે.

10 For if they fall, the one raiseth up his companion, but wo to the one who falleth and there is not a second to raise him up!જો બેમાંથી એક પડે તો બીજો તેને મદદ કરે છે; પરંતુ માણસ એકલો હોય, અને તેની પડતી થાય તો તેને મદદ કરનાર કોઇજ મળે નહિ અને ત્યારે તેની સ્થિતિ દયાજનક થાય છે.

11 Also, if two lie down, then they have heat, but how hath one heat?જો બે જણા સાથે સૂઇ જાય તો તેઓને એક બીજાથી હૂંફ વળે છે. પણ એકલો માણસ હૂંફ કેવી રીતે મેળવી શકે?

12 And if the one strengthen himself, the two stand against him; and the threefold cord is not hastily broken.એકલા માણસને હરકોઇ હરાવે, પણ બે જણ મળીને જીતી શકે છે; ત્રેવડી વણેલી દોરી સહેલાઇથી તૂટતી નથી.

13 Better is a poor and wise youth than an old and foolish king, who hath not known to be warned any more.કોઇપણ વૃદ્ધ અને મૂર્ખ રાજા કે જે કોઇની સલાહ સાંભળતો ન હોય, તેનાં કરતાં ગરીબ પણ જ્ઞાની યુવાન સારો હોય છે.

14 For from a house of prisoners he hath come out to reign, for even in his own kingdom he hath been poor.આ યુવાન જેલમાંથી મુકત થઇને રાજા બની શકે છે. અથવા તે દરિદ્રી પરિવારમાં જન્મ્યો હોય તો પણ રાજા થઇ શકે છે.

15 I have seen all the living, who are walking under the sun, with the second youth who doth stand in his place;દુનિયા પરનાં સર્વ મનુષ્યોને મેં જોયા તો તેઓ બધા રાજાના વારસ બનેલા આ યુવાનની સાથે હતાં.

16 there is no end to all the people, to all who were before them; also, the latter rejoice not in him. Surely this also is vanity and vexation of spirit.અસંખ્ય લોકો તેની સન્મુખ ઊભા હતાં, તો પણ તેના પછીની પેઢીનાં લોકો તેનાથી ખુશ નહોતા. તેથી ખરેખર એ પણ વ્યર્થ અને હવામાં બાચકા ભરવા જેવું છે.
