அன்று இராத்திரியிலே கல்தேயரின் ராஜாவாகிய பெல்ஷாத்சார் கொலைசெய்யப்பட்டான்.

அப்பொழுது ராஜா தன்னில் மிகவும் சந்தோஷப்பட்டு, தானியேலைக் குகையிலிருந்து தூக்கிவிடச் சொன்னான்; அப்படியே தானியேல் குகையிலிருந்து தூக்கிவிடப்பட்டான்; அவன் தன் தேவனை நம்பியிருந்ததினால், அவனுக்கு ஒரு சேதமும் ஏற்படவில்லை.

அரசனான தரியு மிகுந்த மகிழ்ச்சியடைந்தான். அவன் தனது வேலைக்காரர்களிடம் சிங்ககுகையிலிருந்து தானியேலை வெளியேற்றும்படிச் சொன்னான். தானியேலைச் சிங்கக்குகையிலிருந்து வெளியே அழைத்தபோது அவர்கள் அவன் உடலில் எவ்வித காயத்தையும் காணவில்லை. தானியேல் சிங்கங்களால் காயப்படுத்தப்படவில்லை, ஏனென்றால் அவன் தேவனிடம் விசுவாசம் வைத்தான்.
