தாவீது வனாந்தரத்திலுள்ள அரணான ஸ்தலங்களிலே தங்கி, சீப் என்னும் வனாந்தரத்திலிருக்கிற ஒரு மலையிலே தரித்திருந்தான்; சவுல் அநுதினமும் அவனைத் தேடியும், தேவன் அவனை அவன் கையில் ஒப்புக்கொடுக்கவில்லை.

பாலைவனத்தின் கோட்டைகளில் தாவீது மறைந்திருந்தான். அவன் சீப் பாலைவனத்தில் உள்ள மலை நகரத்திற்குச் சென்றான். ஒவ்வொரு நாளும் சவுல் தாவீதைத்தேடினான். ஆனால் சவுல் தாவீதைப் பிடிக்கும்படி கர்த்தர் அனுமதிக்கவில்லை.
