বসন্তের সময়, রাজা নবূখদ্নিত্‌সর প্রভুর মন্দির থেকে অনেক দামী জিনিসপত্রের সঙ্গে য়িহোযাখীনকে বন্দী করে বাবিলে নিয়ে এসেছিলেন| এরপর নবূখদ্নিত্‌সর য়িহোযাখীনের জনৈক আত্মীয, সিদিকিযকে যিহূদা ও জেরুশালেমের নতুন রাজা নিযুক্ত করলেন|

হিষ্কিয় বাবিলের এই ব্যক্তিদের স্বাগত জানিয়ে তাঁদের রাজপ্রাসাদের ও তাঁর রাজত্বের সোনা, রূপো, মশলাপাতি, দুর্মূল্য আতর, অস্ত্রশস্ত্র ও রাজকোষের যা কিছু সম্ভার, তা দেখিয়েছিলেন| সারা রাজ্যে এমন কিছু ছিল না যা হিষ্কিয় তাদের দেখান নি|

বাবিলীয সেনাবাহিনী প্রভুর মন্দিরের পিতলের সমস্ত জিনিসপত্র ভেঙে টুকরো টুকরো করে| পিতলের জলাশয, সেই ঠেলাগাড়িটা কিছুই তারা ভাঙতে বাকি রাখেনি| তারপর সেই পিতলের ভাঙা টুকরোগুলো তারা বাবিলে নিয়ে যায়|

ইসাইয়া 39:6
‘আপনার ও আপনার পূর্বপুরুষদের সব সম্পদই যা সংগৃহীত হয়েছিল এবং দীর্ঘকাল ধরে রক্ষিত ছিল তা সেই দিন বাবিলে চলে যাবে| কিছুই থাকবে না!’ সর্বশক্তিমান প্রভু এসব বলেছেন|

যেরেমিয়া 27:18
যদি ঐ মানুষগুলোই ভাব্বাদী হয় এবং তারাই যদি প্রভুর বার্তা পেয়ে থাকে তাহলে তাদেরই প্রার্থনা করতে দাও| প্রভুর মন্দিরের বাদবাকী জিনিষগুলির সম্বন্ধে তারা প্রার্থনা করুক| তারা প্রার্থনা করুক য়ে মন্দিরের, জেরুশালেম শহরের এবং প্রাসাদের জিনিষপত্র বাবিলে বয়ে নিয়ে যাওয়া হবে না| ঐ ভাব্বাদীদের প্রার্থনা করতে দাও যাতে আর কোন জিনিষ তার জন্য বাবিলে নিয়ে যাওয়া না হয়|”

বাবিলের সেনারা উপাসনালযের পিতলের থাম ভেঙে দেয়| তারা প্রভুর উপাসনাগৃহে খুঁটিগুলি ও পিতলের ট্য়াঙ্কও ভেঙে দেয়| সমস্ত পিতলই তারা বাবিলে বয়ে নিয়ে গিয়েছিল|

তাই তারা জেরুশালেমে অবস্থিত ঈশ্বরের মন্দির থেকে সোনার পাত্রগুলি য়েগুলি নিয়ে আসা হয়েছিল সেগুলি নিয়ে এলো| এবং রাজা ও তাঁর কর্মচারীরা, তাঁর পত্নীরা ও উপপত্নীরা সেই পাত্রগুলি থেকে পান করেছিলেন|

ঐ ভাব্বাদীরা আমার দাস ছিল| আমার বিধি ও শিক্ষামালা সম্বন্ধে তোমাদের পূর্বপুরুষদের কাছে জানাবার জন্য আমি তাদের ব্যবহার করতাম| অবশেষে, তোমাদের পূর্বপুরুষেরা শিক্ষা গ্রহণ করে বলেছিল, ‘প্রভু হলেন সর্বশক্তিমান, তিনি যা বলেছিলেন তাই-ই করেছেন| আমাদের মন্দ কাজের জন্য ও অসত্‌ভাবে জীবনযাপনের জন্য তিনি আমাদের শাস্তি দিয়েছেন|’ এইভাবে তারা ঈশ্বরের কাছে ফিরে এসেছিল|”
