লেবি পরিবারগোষ্ঠীকে মোশি কোন জমি জায়গা দেন নি| ইস্রায়েলের প্রভু ঈশ্বর কথা দিয়েছিলেন লেবি পরিবারগোষ্ঠীর জন্য তিনি নিজেই হবেন তাদের অধিকার|

এক মাত্র লেবি পরিবারগোষ্ঠীই কোনো জমি জায়গা পায় নি| তার বদলে তারা প্রভু, ইস্রায়েলীয়দের ঈশ্বরের কাছে য়ে সমস্ত পশু আগুনে দেওয়া হয়েছিল সেগুলি পেত| প্রভু তাদের কাছে এই রকম প্রতিশ্রুতিই করেছিলেন|

প্রভু হারোণকে এও বললেন, “তুমি জমির কোনো অংশই পাবে না| অন্যান্য লোকরা যা অধিকারভুক্ত করে থাকে এমন কোনো কিছুই তুমি অধিকারভুক্ত করতে পারবে না| আমি, প্রভু তোমারই হবো| ইস্রায়েলের লোকরা সেই দেশ পাবে যা আমি তাদের কাছে প্রতিশ্রুতি করেছিলাম| কিন্তু আমিই তোমার অংশ ও অধিকার|

এই কারণে লেবীয় গোষ্ঠীভুক্ত লোকরা দেশের কোনো অংশ পায় নি, য়েরকম অন্যান্য পরিবারগোষ্ঠীরা পেয়েছিল| লেবীয় গোষ্ঠীভুক্ত লোকরা তাদের অংশ বা অধিকার হিসাবে প্রভুকে পেয়েছে| প্রভু তোমাদের ঈশ্বর, তাদের কাছে এই প্রতিজ্ঞা করেছিলেন|)

“লেবি পরিবারগোষ্ঠীর লোকরা ইস্রায়েল জমির কোনো অংশ পাবে না| ঐ লোকরা যাজক হিসেবে কাজ করবে| য়ে সকল উত্সর্গীকৃত উপহার আগুনে রান্না করা হয় এবং প্রভুকে নিবেদন করা হয়, সেগুলো খেযে তারা জীবনধারণ করবে| লেবি পরিবারগোষ্ঠীর লোকদের এটিই হলো অংশ|
