Jeremiah 40
7 জেরুশালেম যখন ধ্বংস হয়েছিল তখন যিহূদার কিছু সেনা আধিকারিক এবং তাদের সৈন্যরা খোলা দেশটিতে রয়ে গিয়েছিল| তারা শুনলো য়ে বাবিলের রাজা অহীকামের পুত্র গদলিয়কে, যারা খুব গরীব ছিল এবং যাদের বন্দী হিসেবে বাবিলে নিয়ে যাওয়া হয়নি সেই সব পুরুষ, স্ত্রীলোক এবং শিশুদের রাজ্যপাল হিসেবে নিযুক্ত করেছেন| যিহূদার গরীব লোকদের বাবিলের সৈন্যরা বন্দী করে নিয়ে না গিয়ে নবূষরদনের নির্দেশে সেখানেই জমি-জমা দিয়ে তাদের প্রতিষ্ঠিত হবার সুযোগ দিয়েছিল|
8 সুতরাং যিহূদার সৈন্যরা মিস্পাতে এসে গদলিয়র সঙ্গে দেখা করতে সুযোগ দিয়েছিল| সৈন্যদের মধ্যে ছিল: নথনিয়ের পুত্র ইশ্মায়েল, কারেহের দুই পুত্র য়োহানন ও য়োনাথন, তন্হূমতের পুত্র সরায় নটোফা থেকে এফ-এর পুত্ররা এবং মাখাথীযের পুত্র যাসনিয় এবং তাদের লোকরা|
9 গদলিয় ঐ সৈন্যদের নিরাপত্তা দেবার জন্য একটি শপথ নিয়ে বলেছিল: “সৈন্যগণ তোমাদের কোন ভয় নেই| তোমরা এখানে থেকে যাও, বসতি স্থাপন করো এবং বাবিলের রাজার সেবা কর| বাবিলেই তোমরা গিয়ে স্থায়ীভাবে বসবাস শুরু করো| তোমাদের তাতে মঙ্গল হবে|
10 আমি বয়ং মিস্পাতে থাকব| আমি তোমাদের হয়ে কল্দীয অধিবাসীদের কাছে বলব| ওটা তোমরা আমার ওপর ছেড়ে দাও| কিন্তু তোমাদের দ্রাক্ষা থেকে দ্রাক্ষারস তৈরী করতে হবে| গ্রীষ্মকালীন ফলের এবং তৈলবীজের চাষ করবে| চাষের ফসল মজুত করে রাখবে| তোমরা য়ে সমস্ত শহরের দায়িত্ব নিয়েছ সেখানেই থেকো|”
11 যিহূদার য়ে সব মানুষ মোয়াব, অম্মোন, ইদোম এবং অন্যান্য দেশে চলে গিয়েছিল তারা শুনতে পেলো য়ে বাবিলের রাজা যিহূদার কিছু গরীব লোককে বন্দী করে না নিয়ে গিয়ে যিহূদাতেই বাস করতে দিয়েছে এবং তারা জানতে পারল য়ে সে গদলিয়কে সেই লোকদের রাজ্যপাল নির্বাচিত করেছে|
12 যিহূদার লোকরা যখন এই খবর পেলো তখন তারা এই সমস্ত দেশগুলি থেকে যিহূদায় ফিরে এসেছিল| তারা ফিরে এসেছিল গদলিয়র কাছে মিস্পাতে, বসতি স্থাপন করেছিল, প্রচুর পরিমাণে দ্রাক্ষারস তৈরী করেছিল এবং গ্রীষ্মকালীন ফলের ফসল সংগ্রহ করেছিল|
7 Now when all the captains of the forces which were in the fields, even they and their men, heard that the king of Babylon had made Gedaliah the son of Ahikam governor in the land, and had committed unto him men, and women, and children, and of the poor of the land, of them that were not carried away captive to Babylon;
8 Then they came to Gedaliah to Mizpah, even Ishmael the son of Nethaniah, and Johanan and Jonathan the sons of Kareah, and Seraiah the son of Tanhumeth, and the sons of Ephai the Netophathite, and Jezaniah the son of a Maachathite, they and their men.
9 And Gedaliah the son of Ahikam the son of Shaphan sware unto them and to their men, saying, Fear not to serve the Chaldeans: dwell in the land, and serve the king of Babylon, and it shall be well with you.
10 As for me, behold, I will dwell at Mizpah to serve the Chaldeans, which will come unto us: but ye, gather ye wine, and summer fruits, and oil, and put them in your vessels, and dwell in your cities that ye have taken.
11 Likewise when all the Jews that were in Moab, and among the Ammonites, and in Edom, and that were in all the countries, heard that the king of Babylon had left a remnant of Judah, and that he had set over them Gedaliah the son of Ahikam the son of Shaphan;
12 Even all the Jews returned out of all places whither they were driven, and came to the land of Judah, to Gedaliah, unto Mizpah, and gathered wine and summer fruits very much.

And Gedaliah the son of Ahikam the son of Shaphan sware unto them and to their men, saying, Fear not to serve the Chaldeans: dwell in the land, and serve the king of Babylon, and it shall be well with you.
10 আমি বয়ং মিস্পাতে থাকব| আমি তোমাদের হয়ে কল্দীয অধিবাসীদের কাছে বলব| ওটা তোমরা আমার ওপর ছেড়ে দাও| কিন্তু তোমাদের দ্রাক্ষা থেকে দ্রাক্ষারস তৈরী করতে হবে| গ্রীষ্মকালীন ফলের এবং তৈলবীজের চাষ করবে| চাষের ফসল মজুত করে রাখবে| তোমরা য়ে সমস্ত শহরের দায়িত্ব নিয়েছ সেখানেই থেকো|”
As for me, behold, I will dwell at Mizpah to serve the Chaldeans, which will come unto us: but ye, gather ye wine, and summer fruits, and oil, and put them in your vessels, and dwell in your cities that ye have taken.
11 যিহূদার য়ে সব মানুষ মোয়াব, অম্মোন, ইদোম এবং অন্যান্য দেশে চলে গিয়েছিল তারা শুনতে পেলো য়ে বাবিলের রাজা যিহূদার কিছু গরীব লোককে বন্দী করে না নিয়ে গিয়ে যিহূদাতেই বাস করতে দিয়েছে এবং তারা জানতে পারল য়ে সে গদলিয়কে সেই লোকদের রাজ্যপাল নির্বাচিত করেছে|

Even all the Jews returned out of all places whither they were driven, and came to the land of Judah, to Gedaliah, unto Mizpah, and gathered wine and summer fruits very much.
