Isaiah 61
1 প্রভুর দাস বলেন, “প্রভু, আমার সদাপ্রভু, তাঁর আত্মা আমার মধ্যে দিয়েছেন|’ গরীবদের সঙ্গে কথা বলবার জন্য, তাদের ভগ্নহৃদয়ের ক্ষতে বন্ধনী জড়াবার জন্য এবং দুঃখীকে আরাম দেবার জন্য প্রভু আমাকে মনোনীত করেছেন| ঈশ্বর আমাকে পাঠিয়েছেন নির্য়াতিতদের ও বন্দীদের জানাতে যে, তারা মুক্ত হচ্ছে|
2 ঈশ্বর আমাকে পাঠিয়েছেন তাঁর উদারতা কখন দেখা যাবে সে সময়ের কথা ঘোষণা করার জন্য| দুষ্ট লোকদের তাদের শাস্তির সময় ঘোষণা করবার জন্য প্রভু আমাকে পাঠিয়েছেন |ঈশ্বর আমাকে পাঠিয়েছেন দুঃখীদের স্বস্তি দিতে|
3 ঈশ্বর আমাকে সিয়োনের বিমর্ষ লোকদের কাছে পাঠিয়েছেন| আমি তাদের তা ভোগ করার জন্য প্রস্তুত করে তুলব| আমি তাদের মাথার ছাই দূরে সরিয়ে দেব| আমি তাদের রাজমুকুট দেব| আমি তাদের দুঃখকে সরিয়ে দিয়ে সুখের তেল দেব| আমি তাদের দুঃখ দূর করব এবং উপাচারের বস্ত্র দেব| ঈশ্বর আমাকে পাঠিয়েছেন এই সব লোকদের ‘ভাল বৃক্ষ’ এবং ‘প্রভুর বিস্মযকর চারা গাছ’ হিসেবে নাম দিতে|
4 “সেই সময় যে সব পুরানো শহরগুলি ধ্বংস হয়েছিল তা আবার নতুন করে গড়ে উঠবে| সেই শহরগুলি প্রারম্ভিক সৃষ্টির সময়ের মত আবার নতুন হয়ে উঠবে| শহরগুলি বহুকাল আগে ধ্বংস হয়েছিল| কিন্তু আবার তা নতুন করে গড়ে উঠবে|
5 “তখন তোমার শএুরা তোমার কাছে এসে মেষদের যত্ন নেবে| তোমার শএুদের শিশুরা তোমার মাঠে ও বাগানে কাজ করবে|
6 তোমাকে বলা হবে ‘প্রভুর যাজক|’ ‘আমাদের ঈশ্বরের দাস|’ পৃথিবীর সব জাতিদের ধনসম্পদ তুমি পাবে এবং এর জন্য তুমি গর্বিত হবে|
7 “অতীতে, লোকে তোমাকে লজ্জায ফেলত এবং তোমার কাছে খারাপ কথা বলত| তুমি অন্য লোকদের চেয়ে অনেক বেশী লজ্জিত হয়েছিলে| তাই তুমি অন্যদের তুলনায় তোমার ভূখণ্ডে দ্বিগুণ সুবিধা পাবে| তুমি চির কালের জন্য সুখ পাবে|
8 এসব কেন ঘটবে? কারণ আমি প্রভুর ধার্মিকতা ও ন্যায়বোধকে ভালবাসি| আমি চুরি করা এবং অন্যান্য মন্দ কাজকে ঘৃণা করি| তাই আমি লোকেদের তাদের প্রাপ্য পুরস্কার দেব| আমি চির কালের মতো আমার লোকদের সঙ্গে একটি চুক্তি করব|
9 সব জাতির প্রতিটি লোক আমার লোকদের জানবে| যারাই তাদের দেখবে, জানতে পারবে যে প্রভুই তাদের আশীর্বাদ করেছেন|”
10 “প্রভু আমাকে খুব সুখী করেছেন| আমার সমগ্র সত্ত্বা আমার ঈশ্বরে সুখী| ঈশ্বর আমাকে পরিত্রাণের বস্ত্র পরিযেছেন| এটা হচ্ছে যেমন এক জন বিয়ের বর নিজেকে মালা দিয়ে সাজায সেই রকম| ঈশ্বর আমার ওপর ধার্মিকতার আবরণ বস্ত্র পরিযেছেন| যেন বিয়ের বধূ ব্বিাহের চমত্কার পোশাক পরেছে|
11 পৃথিবীই গাছদের জন্মানোর কারণ| লোকরা বাগানে বীজ লাগায এবং বাগান তাদের বড় করে তোলে| একই রকম ভাবে প্রভু ধার্মিকতা বৃদ্ধি করতে সাহায্য করবেন| প্রভু সমস্ত জাতির সামনে প্রশংসাকে বৃদ্ধি করবেন|”
1 The Spirit of the Lord God is upon me; because the Lord hath anointed me to preach good tidings unto the meek; he hath sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to them that are bound;
2 To proclaim the acceptable year of the Lord, and the day of vengeance of our God; to comfort all that mourn;
3 To appoint unto them that mourn in Zion, to give unto them beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness; that they might be called trees of righteousness, the planting of the Lord, that he might be glorified.
4 And they shall build the old wastes, they shall raise up the former desolations, and they shall repair the waste cities, the desolations of many generations.
5 And strangers shall stand and feed your flocks, and the sons of the alien shall be your plowmen and your vinedressers.
6 But ye shall be named the Priests of the Lord: men shall call you the Ministers of our God: ye shall eat the riches of the Gentiles, and in their glory shall ye boast yourselves.
7 For your shame ye shall have double; and for confusion they shall rejoice in their portion: therefore in their land they shall possess the double: everlasting joy shall be unto them.
8 For I the Lord love judgment, I hate robbery for burnt offering; and I will direct their work in truth, and I will make an everlasting covenant with them.
9 And their seed shall be known among the Gentiles, and their offspring among the people: all that see them shall acknowledge them, that they are the seed which the Lord hath blessed.
10 I will greatly rejoice in the Lord, my soul shall be joyful in my God; for he hath clothed me with the garments of salvation, he hath covered me with the robe of righteousness, as a bridegroom decketh himself with ornaments, and as a bride adorneth herself with her jewels.
11 For as the earth bringeth forth her bud, and as the garden causeth the things that are sown in it to spring forth; so the Lord God will cause righteousness and praise to spring forth before all the nations.
1 Now these are the nations which the Lord left, to prove Israel by them, even as many of Israel as had not known all the wars of Canaan;
2 Only that the generations of the children of Israel might know, to teach them war, at the least such as before knew nothing thereof;
3 Namely, five lords of the Philistines, and all the Canaanites, and the Sidonians, and the Hivites that dwelt in mount Lebanon, from mount Baal-hermon unto the entering in of Hamath.
4 And they were to prove Israel by them, to know whether they would hearken unto the commandments of the Lord, which he commanded their fathers by the hand of Moses.
5 And the children of Israel dwelt among the Canaanites, Hittites, and Amorites, and Perizzites, and Hivites, and Jebusites:
6 And they took their daughters to be their wives, and gave their daughters to their sons, and served their gods.
7 And the children of Israel did evil in the sight of the Lord, and forgat the Lord their God, and served Baalim and the groves.
8 Therefore the anger of the Lord was hot against Israel, and he sold them into the hand of Chushan-rishathaim king of Mesopotamia: and the children of Israel served Chushan-rishathaim eight years.
9 And when the children of Israel cried unto the Lord, the Lord raised up a deliverer to the children of Israel, who delivered them, even Othniel the son of Kenaz, Caleb’s younger brother.
10 And the Spirit of the Lord came upon him, and he judged Israel, and went out to war: and the Lord delivered Chushan-rishathaim king of Mesopotamia into his hand; and his hand prevailed against Chushan-rishathaim.
11 And the land had rest forty years. And Othniel the son of Kenaz died.
12 And the children of Israel did evil again in the sight of the Lord: and the Lord strengthened Eglon the king of Moab against Israel, because they had done evil in the sight of the Lord.
13 And he gathered unto him the children of Ammon and Amalek, and went and smote Israel, and possessed the city of palm trees.
14 So the children of Israel served Eglon the king of Moab eighteen years.
15 But when the children of Israel cried unto the Lord, the Lord raised them up a deliverer, Ehud the son of Gera, a Benjamite, a man lefthanded: and by him the children of Israel sent a present unto Eglon the king of Moab.
16 But Ehud made him a dagger which had two edges, of a cubit length; and he did gird it under his raiment upon his right thigh.
17 And he brought the present unto Eglon king of Moab: and Eglon was a very fat man.
18 And when he had made an end to offer the present, he sent away the people that bare the present.
19 But he himself turned again from the quarries that were by Gilgal, and said, I have a secret errand unto thee, O king: who said, Keep silence. And all that stood by him went out from him.
20 And Ehud came unto him; and he was sitting in a summer parlour, which he had for himself alone. And Ehud said, I have a message from God unto thee. And he arose out of his seat.
21 And Ehud put forth his left hand, and took the dagger from his right thigh, and thrust it into his belly:
22 And the haft also went in after the blade; and the fat closed upon the blade, so that he could not draw the dagger out of his belly; and the dirt came out.
23 Then Ehud went forth through the porch, and shut the doors of the parlour upon him, and locked them.
24 When he was gone out, his servants came; and when they saw that, behold, the doors of the parlour were locked, they said, Surely he covereth his feet in his summer chamber.
25 And they tarried till they were ashamed: and, behold, he opened not the doors of the parlour; therefore they took a key, and opened them: and, behold, their lord was fallen down dead on the earth.
26 And Ehud escaped while they tarried, and passed beyond the quarries, and escaped unto Seirath.
27 And it came to pass, when he was come, that he blew a trumpet in the mountain of Ephraim, and the children of Israel went down with him from the mount, and he before them.
28 And he said unto them, Follow after me: for the Lord hath delivered your enemies the Moabites into your hand. And they went down after him, and took the fords of Jordan toward Moab, and suffered not a man to pass over.
29 And they slew of Moab at that time about ten thousand men, all lusty, and all men of valour; and there escaped not a man.
30 So Moab was subdued that day under the hand of Israel. And the land had rest fourscore years.
31 And after him was Shamgar the son of Anath, which slew of the Philistines six hundred men with an ox goad: and he also delivered Israel.
