জেরুশালেমে ফিরে আসার পর দ্বিতীয় বছরের দ্বিতীয় মাসে শলটীয়েলের পাত্র সরুব্বাবিল, য়োষাদকের পাত্র য়েশূয ও তাঁদের ভাইরা, যাজকগণ, লেবীয়গণ ও অন্যান্য ব্যক্তিরা য়াঁরা বন্দীদশা থেকে জেরুশালেমে ফিরে এসেছিলেন তাঁরা মন্দির নির্মাণের কাজ শুরু করলেন| তাঁরা 20 বছর এবং তার চেযে বেশী বযস্ক লেবীয়দের মন্দির নির্মাণের তত্ত্বাবধানের জন্য বেছে নিলেন|

এজরা 5:2
তখন শলটীয়েলের সন্তান সরুব্বাবিল ও য়োষাদকের পুত্র য়েশূয় আবার জেরুশালেমে মন্দির নির্মাণের কাজ শুরু করলেন| ঈশ্বরের সমস্ত ভাব্বাদীরা তাঁদের সঙ্গে ছিলেন এবং তাঁরা এই কাজ সমর্থন করছিলেন|

জাখারিয়া 4:10
শুরুতে কাজ অল্প হলেও লোকে তাতে লজ্জিত হবে না আর তারা ওলোন দড়ি হাতে সরুব্বাবিলকে দেখে ওরা খুব খুশী হবে, য়ে সমাপ্ত হওয়া নির্মাণ কাজ পরীক্ষা করছে এবং মাপ-জোক করছে| পাথরের য়ে সাতটি ধার তুমি এখন দেখলে, তা প্রভুর চক্ষুস্বরূপ- যা সব দিকে নজর রেখেছিল| পৃথিবীর সব কিছুই তারা দেখতে পায|”

প্রভু শলটীযেলের পুত্র সরুব্বাবিলের সঙ্গে এবং যিহোষাদকের পুত্র, মহাযাজক যিহোশূয়র সঙ্গে কথা বলার জন্য হগযকে পাঠিয়েছিলেন| এই লোকরা এবং সমস্ত জনগণ তাদের ঈশ্বর প্রভুর কণ্ঠ এবং ভাব্বাদী হগযের কথা শুনেছিল| লোকরা তাদের প্রভু ঈশ্বরের প্রতি ভয় ও সম্মান দেখালো|

হগয় 2:18
প্রভু বলেন, “আজ নবম মাসের 24 তম দিন| তোমরা প্রভুর মন্দিরের ভিত স্থাপনের কাজ শেষ করেছ| এবার লক্ষ্য কর আজকের দিনের পর থেকে কি ঘটে|
