কিন্তু অল্প কিছু কাঠ অবশিষ্ট থাকে| তাই লোকে কাঠ দিয়ে মূর্ত্তি বানিয়ে তাকে দেবতা বলে| সে এই মূর্ত্তির সামনে মাথা নত করে এবং তার পূজা করে| লোকে ঐ মূর্ত্তির কাছে প্রার্থনা করতে করতে বলে: “তুমিই আমার দেবতা| আমাকে রক্ষা কর!”

এক দিন সন্হেরীব তার দেবতা নিষ্রোকের মন্দিরে গিয়ে তার উপাসনা করছিল| সেই সময় তার দুই পুত্র অদ্রম্মেলক ও শরেত্সর তাকে তরবারির আঘাতে হত্যা করল| তারপর তারা অরারট দেশে পালাল| আর সন্হেরীব পুত্র এসর-হদ্দোন অশূরের নতুন রাজা হল|
Daniel 3:17
যদি আপনি আমাদের অগ্নিকুণ্ডে নিক্ষেপ করেন তাহলে আমরা য়ে দেবতার পূজা করি তিনি আমাদের রক্ষা করবেন| তিনি ইচ্ছা করলে আমাদের আপনার হাত থেকে রক্ষা করতে পারেন|
Daniel 3:29
তাই আমি এই নিয়ম করলাম: কোন দেশের এবং কোন ভাষার কোন ব্যক্তি যদি শদ্রক, মৈশক ও অবেদ্-নগোর ঈশ্বরের বিরুদ্ধে কোন কথা বলে তবে তাদের টুকরো টুকরো করে কেটে ফেলা হবে| তাদের বাড়ি-ঘর সর্বসাধারণের শৌচালয় হয়ে উঠবে কারণ অন্য কোন দেবতা তাঁর লোকদের এভাবে বাঁচাতে পারেন না|”

তখন রাজা তাঁর ভৃত্যদের দানিয়েলকে আনতে আদেশ দিলেন এবং তারা তাঁকে আনল| রাজা দানিয়েলকে বললেন, “আমি আশা করি য়ে ঈশ্বরকে তুমি অনবরত উপাসনা করছ তিনি তোমায় রক্ষা করবেন|”

তিনি গুহার কাছে গিয়ে অত্যন্ত উদ্বিগ্ন স্বরে দানিয়েলকে ডাকতে লাগলেন| তিনি বললেন, “হে দানিয়েল, জীবন্ত ঈশ্বরের সেবক, তুমি সব সময় তাঁর সেবা কর| তোমার ঈশ্বর কি তোমাকে সিংহের হাত থেকে রক্ষা করতে সক্ষম হয়েছেন?”

ঈশ্বর মানুষকে সাহায্য করেন ও রক্ষা করেন| ঈশ্বর স্বর্গে ও পৃথিবীতে চিহ্ন-কার্য়্য় এবং আশ্চর্য়্য় কার্য়্য় করেন| এই সেই ঈশ্বর যিনি দানিয়েলকে সিংহের হাত থেকে বাঁচিয়েছেন|”
