Amos 3:12
সে জন্য প্রভু বলেছেন,“একটি সিংহ কোন মেষকে আক্রমণ করলে এবং একজন মেষপালক মেষটিকে রক্ষা করার চেষ্টা করলে মেষপালকটি মেষের কেবলমাত্র কিছু অংশই বাঁচাতে পারবে| সে হয়ত সিংহের মুখ থেকে মেষের দুটো পা অথবা কানের একটি অংশ টেনে নিতে পারবে| একই ভাবে, ইস্রায়েলের অধিকাংশ লোকই রক্ষা পাবে না| শমরিয়ায যারা বাস করছে তারা হয়ত বিছানার কেবলমাত্র একটা কোণ রক্ষা করতে পারবে, অথবা শয়্য়ার চাদরের এক টুকরো|”

Thus saith the LORD; As the shepherd taketh out of the mouth of the lion two legs, or a piece of an ear; so shall the children of Israel be taken out that dwell in Samaria in the corner of a bed, and in Damascus in a couch.

American Standard Version (ASV)
Thus saith Jehovah: As the shepherd rescueth out of the mouth of the lion two legs, or a piece of an ear, so shall the children of Israel be rescued that sit in Samaria in the corner of a couch, and on the silken cushions of a bed.

প্রভু আমাকে বলেছিলেন, “একটা সিংহ অথবা সিংহশাবক যখন কোন পশুকে খাবার জন্য ধরে সে তখন তার শিকারের ওপর দাঁড়ায ও গর্জন করে| তখন কোন কিছুই সিংহটিকে ভয় দেখাতে পারে না| যদি মানুষ আসে এবং চেষ্টাও করে সিংহটি ভীত হয় না| মানুষ যথেষ্ট হল্লা জুড়তে পারে| কিন্তু সিংহ পালায় না|”একই ভাবে সর্বশক্তিমান প্রভু আসবেন সিয়োন পর্বতে| পর্বতের ওপর প্রভু যুদ্ধ করবেন|

Isaiah 17:1
এটা দম্মেশকের জন্য দুঃখের বার্তা| প্রভু বললেন এই ঘটনাগুলি দম্মেশকে ঘটবে:“দম্মেশক এখন একটি শহর| কিন্তু এই শহর ধ্বংস হয়ে যাবে| শহরে ধ্বংসস্তূপ ছাড়া আর কিছুই থাকবে না|

Isaiah 8:4
কারণ ছেলেটি ‘বাবা’, ‘মা’ বলতে শেখার আগেই ঈশ্বর দম্মেশক ও শমরিয়ার সব ধনসম্পদ নিয়ে নেবেন এবং তা অশূর রাজার হাতে তুলে দেবেন|”

আহসের মিনতিতে সাড়া দিয়ে অশূররাজ দম্মেশকের বিরুদ্ধে যুদ্ধ করে দম্মেশক দখল করেন এবং রত্‌সীনকে হত্যা করে সেখানকার লোকদের বন্দী করে কীরে নিয়ে যান|

বিন্হদদ তাঁকে বললেন, “আহাব, আমার পিতা তোমার পিতার কাছ থেকে য়ে সমস্ত শহর নিয়েছিলেন আমি সেই সমস্তই তোমাকে ফেরত্‌ দেব| আর তাছাড়া তুমি দম্মেশকে দোকান বসাতে পার য়েমন আমার পিতা শমরিয়ায বসিযে ছিলেন|”আহাব উত্তর দিলেন, “তুমি যদি এই প্রতিশ্রুতি দাও তাহলে আমি তোমাকে মুক্ত করে দিচ্ছি|” তারপর এই দুই রাজার মধ্যে শান্তি চুক্তি সাক্ষরিত হলে রাজা আহাব রাজা বিন্হদদকে মুক্তি দিলেন|

1 Kings 20:30
যারা বেঁচে থাকল তারা পালিয়ে অফেক শহরে আশ্রয় নিল| কিন্তু শহরের দেওয়াল ভেঙ্গে পড়ায সেই সেনাবাহিনীর আরো 27,000 সৈন্যের মৃত্যু হল| বিন্হদদ ও অফেকে পালিয়ে গিয়ে একটি বাড়িতে লুকিয়ে ছিলেন|
