যিহূদার রাজা যিহোয়াখীন তাঁর মা, সেনাপতিদের, নেতাদের ও আধিকারিকদের সকলকে নিয়ে তাঁর সঙ্গে দেখা করতে গেলে বাবিলরাজ তাঁকে বন্দী করেন| নবূখদ্নিত্‌সরের শাসন কালের অষ্টম বছরে এই ঘটনা ঘটেছিল|

যিরমিয় ইহুদীদের কাছে, যারা বাবিলে বন্দী ছিল, একটি চিঠি পাঠিয়েছিল| একই চিঠি সে বাবিলে বাস করা নেতাদের, যাজকদের, ভাব্বাদীদের এবং সাধারণ লোকদের পাঠিয়েছিল| এদের সবাইকে বাবিলের রাজা নবূখদ্রিত্‌সর জেরুশালেম থেকে ধরে নিয়ে গিয়েছিল|

পরবর্তীকালে ইবিল-মরোদক বাবিলের রাজা হলেন| তিনি যিহূদার রাজা যিহোয়াকীমকে তাঁর বন্দীত্বের 37 বছরের মাথায় জেল থেকে মুক্ত করলেন| মরোদকের রাজত্বের বারো মাসের 27 দিনের মাথায় এই ঘটনা ঘটেছিল|

যিহূদার রাজা যিহোয়াখীন 37 বছর বাবিলের কারাগারে বন্দী ছিল| যিহোয়াখীনের কারাবাসের সাঁইত্রিশতম বর্ষে বাবিলের রাজা ইবিল মরোদক করুণা করে তাকে মুক্তি দেন| তিনি দ্বাদশ মাসের 25 তম দিনে যিহোয়াখীনকে মুক্তি দেন| ইবিল ঐ বছরেই বাবিলের রাজা হয়েছিল|
