Acts 12
1 সেই সময় রাজা হেরোদ বিশ্বাসী মণ্ডলীর কিছু লোকের ওপর নির্য়াতন শুরু করলেন৷
2 য়োহনের ভাই যাকোবকে হেরোদ তরবারির আঘাতে হত্যা করার নির্দেশ দিলেন৷
3 তিনি যখন দেখলেন এতে ইহুদীরা খুব খুশী হল, তখন তিনি পিতরকে গ্রেপ্তার করলেন৷ তখন ছিল ইহুদীদের নিস্তারপর্বেরসময়৷
4 পিতরকে গ্রেপ্তার করে হেরোদ তাঁকে কারাগারে রাখলেন৷ তাঁকে পাহারা দেবার জন্য চারজন করে ষোল জন সৈনিককে নিযোগ করলেন৷ তিনি মনে করলেন নিস্তারপর্বের পরে পিতরকে জনসাধারণের কাছে বিচারের জন্য হাজির করবেন৷
5 তাই পিতরকে কারাগারে বন্দী করে রাখা হল, কিন্তু বিশ্বাসী মণ্ডলী তাঁর জন্য ঈশ্বরের কাছে একাগ্রভাবে প্রার্থনা করতে থাকলেন৷
1 Now about that time Herod the king stretched forth his hands to vex certain of the church.
2 And he killed James the brother of John with the sword.
3 And because he saw it pleased the Jews, he proceeded further to take Peter also. (Then were the days of unleavened bread.)
4 And when he had apprehended him, he put him in prison, and delivered him to four quaternions of soldiers to keep him; intending after Easter to bring him forth to the people.
5 Peter therefore was kept in prison: but prayer was made without ceasing of the church unto God for him.
