এইভাবে প্রভু ভাব্বাদী য়িরমিযর মুখ দিয়ে ইস্রায়েলের লোকদের উদ্দেশ্যে যা যা ভবিষ্যদ্বাণী করেছিলেন সে সবই মিলে গেল| প্রভু য়িরমিযর মারফত্‌ ভবিষ্যদ্বাণী করেন, “বিশ্রামদিনে বিশ্রাম না নিয়ে লোকেরা যে পাপাচরণ করেছে তা শোধন করতে এই ভূখণ্ড এভাবে পতিত থাকবে|” এইভাবে, দেশটি 70 বছর ধরে বিশ্রাম পেয়েছিল|

তাই শীঘ্রই উত্তরের সমস্ত পরিবারগোষ্ঠীকে এবং বাবিলের রাজা নবূখদ্রিত্‌সরকে যিহূদার লোকদের বিরুদ্ধে পাঠাব| নবূখদ্রিত্‌সর হল আমার অনুচর| আমি তাদের যিহূদার চার পাশের সমস্ত জাতির বিরুদ্ধে আনব| আমি যিহূদা ও তার চারপাশের সমস্ত দেশগুলিকে ধ্বংস করব এবং তাদের একটি চিরকালীন শূন্য মরুভূমিতে পরিণত করব| মানুষ শিস দিতে দিতে দেখবে কি ভাবে সেই সব দেশ ধ্বংস হবে|
