அப்பொழுது யூதர்கள் அலெக்சந்தர் என்பவனை முன்னிற்கத் தள்ளுகையில், கூட்டத்திலே சிலர் அவனை முன்னே இழுத்துவிட்டார்கள். அலெக்சந்தர் கையமர்த்தி, ஜனங்களுக்கு உத்தரவுசொல்ல மனதாயிருந்தான்.

பின்பு வாசலில் இருந்த அறையின் மெத்தையிலிருந்து மற்ற அறையின் மெத்தைவரை இருபத்தைந்து முழமாக அளந்தார்; கதவுக்குக் கதவு நேராக இருந்தது.
