அவன் பிரதியுத்தரமாக: உன் தேவனாகிய கர்த்தரிடத்தில் உன் முழு இருதயத்தோடும் உன் முழுஆத்துமாவோடும், உன் முழுப்பலத்தோடும் உன் முழுச்சிந்தையோடும் அன்புகூர்ந்து, உன்னிடத்தில் அன்புகூருவதுபோலப் பிறனிடத்திலும் அன்புகூருவாயாக என்று எழுதியிருக்கிறது என்றான்.

எனவே எருசலேமிற்குத் திரும்பி வந்த இஸ்ரவேலர்கள் இத்திட்டத்தை ஏற்றுக் கொண்டனர். ஆசாரியனாகிய எஸ்றா, குடும்பத் தலைவர்களைத் தேர்ந்தெடுத்தான். அவன் ஒவ்வொரு கோத்திரங்களிலிருந்தும் ஒருவனைத் தேர்ந்தெடுத்தான். ஒவ்வொருவரும் தங்கள் பேரால் அழைக்கப்பட்டனர். பத்தாவது மாதத்தின் முதல் நாளில் அவர்கள் கூடிய மர்ந்து, ஒவ்வொரு வழக்கையும் ஆராய்ந்தனர்.
