சிரேனே ஊரானும், அலெக்சந்தருக்கும் ரூப்புக்கும் தகப்பனுமாகிய சீமோன் என்னப்பட்ட ஒருவன் நாட்டிலிருந்து அவ்வழியே வருகையில், அவருடைய சிலுவையைச் சுமக்கும்படி அவனைப் பலவந்தம்பண்ணினார்கள்.

அப்படி நாளுக்குநாள் இருந்து, இரண்டு வருடங்கள் முடிகிற காலத்தில் அவனுக்கு இருந்த கொடிய நோயினால் அவன் குடல்கள் சரிந்து இறந்துபோனான்; அவனுடைய பிதாக்களுக்காகக் கந்தவர்க்கங்களைக் கொளுத்தினதுபோல், அவனுடைய மக்கள் அவனுக்காகக் கொளுத்தவில்லை.
