அவர் அநேக விசேஷங்களை உவமைகளாக அவர்களுக்குப் போதித்தார்; போதிக்கிறபொழுது அவர்களுக்குச் சொன்னது:

யோவாபோ இராணுவங்களின் படை தனக்கு நேராக முன்னும் பின்னும் இருக்கிறதைக் காணும்போது, அவன் இஸ்ரவேலிலே தெரிந்துகொள்ளப்பட்ட எல்லா இராணுவங்களிலும் ஒரு பகுதியைப் பிரித்தெடுத்து, அதைச் சீரியர்களுக்கு எதிராக அணிவகுத்து நிறுத்தி,

அம்மோனியர் முன்னணியிலும் பின் பகுதியிலும் தனக்கு எதிரே நிற்பதை யோவாப் கண்டான். எனவே அவன் இஸ்ரவேலரில் திறமை மிகுந்த வீரர்களைத் தெரிந்துக்கொண்டான். ஆராமியருக்கு எதிராகப் போர் செய்வதற்காக இவர்களை அனுப்பினான்.
