அவர்கள் அலங்கத்தின்மேலிருக்கிற எருசலேமின் ஜனங்களைப் பயப்படுத்தி,கலங்கப்பண்ணி, தாங்கள் நகரத்தைப்பிடிக்கும்படி, அவர்களைப் பார்த்து: யூதபாஷையிலே மகா சத்தமாய்க் கூப்பிட்டு,

பிறகு அசீரியா அரசனின் வேலைக்காரர்கள் சுவர்களின் மேலே இருந்த எருசலேமின் ஜனங்களைப் பார்த்து சத்தமிட்டார்கள். அப்போது அவர்கள் எபிரெய மொழியைப் பயன்படுத்தினர். எருசலேம் ஜனங்கள் அஞ்சவேண்டும் என்பதற்காகவே இவ்வாறு நடந்துக்கொண்டனர். தாம் அந்நகரத்தைக் கைப்பற்றிவிடுவோம் என்று நம்பினார்கள்.
