ராஜா ஜனங்களுக்குச் செவிகொடாமற்போனான், கர்த்தர் சீலோனியனான அகியாவைக்கொண்டு நேபாத்தின் குமாரனாகிய யெரொபெயாமுக்குச் சொன்ன தமது வார்த்தையை உறுதிப்படுத்தும்படி தேவனாலே இப்படி நடந்தது.

கல்தேயருடைய தேசத்தைப் பார்; அந்த மக்கள் முன்னிருந்ததில்லை; அசீரியன் வனாந்திரத்தாருக்காக அதை அஸ்திபாரப்படுத்தினான்; அவர்கள் அதின் கோபுரங்களை உண்டாக்கி, அதின் அரண்மனைகளைக் கட்டினார்கள்; அவர் அதை அழிவுக்கென்று நியமித்தார்.

எனவே தீரு ஜனங்கள் கூறுகிறார்கள், “நமக்குப் பாபிலோன் ஜனங்கள் உதவுவார்கள்! ஆனால் கல்தேயருடைய நாட்டைப் பார். இப்பொழுது பாபிலோன் ஒரு நாடாகவே இல்லை. அசீரியா பாபிலோனைத் தாக்கியது. அதைச்சுற்றிலும் போர்க் கோபுரங்களைக் கட்டியது. வீரர்கள், அழகான வீடுகளில் இருந்து எல்லாவற்றையும் எடுத்துக்கொண்டனர். பாபிலோனைக் காட்டு மிருகங்களுக்குரிய இடமாக அசீரியா செய்தது. பாபிலோனை அழிவுக்கேற்ற இடமாக மாற்றியது.
