சீரியாவின் ராஜா தனக்கு இருக்கிற இரதங்களின் தலைவரை நோக்கி: நீங்கள் சிறியவரோடும் பெரியவரோடும் யுத்தம்பண்ணாமல், இஸ்ரவேலின் ராஜா ஒருவனோடேமாத்திரம் யுத்தம்பண்ணுங்கள் என்று கட்டளையிட்டிருந்தான்.

ஆராம் அரசன் தனது இதரப் படைத் தளபதியிடம் ஒரு கட்டளையிட்டான். அவன் அவர்களிடம், “எவரோடும் சண்டையிடவேண்டாம். அவன் பெரியவனாயினும் சரி, சிறியவனாயினும் சரியே. ஆனால் இஸ்ரவேலின் அரசனான ஆகாபிடம் மட்டும் சண்டையிடுங்கள்” என்றான்.
