24 இஸ்ரவேலர் அன்றையதினம் மிகுந்த வருத்தம் அடைந்தார்கள்: நான் என் சத்துருக்கள் கையிலே பழிவாங்க வேண்டும், சாயங்காலமட்டும் பொறுக்காமல் எவன் போஜனம் செய்கிறானோ அவன் சபிக்கப்பட்டவன் என்று சவுல் ஜனங்களுக்கு ஆணையிட்டுச் சொல்லியிருந்தபடியால், ஜனங்களில் ஒருவரும் எவ்வளவேணும் போஜனம்பண்ணாதிருந்தார்கள். And the men of Israel were distressed that day: for Saul had adjured the people, saying, Cursed be the man that eateth any food until evening, that I may be avenged on mine enemies. So none of the people tasted any food.

And when the people were come into the wood, behold, the honey dropped; but no man put his hand to his mouth: for the people feared the oath.

But Jonathan heard not when his father charged the people with the oath: wherefore he put forth the end of the rod that was in his hand, and dipped it in an honeycomb, and put his hand to his mouth; and his eyes were enlightened.

28 அப்பொழுது ஜனங்களில் ஒருவன்: இன்றைக்கு போஜனம் சாப்பிடுகிறவன் சபிக்கப்பட்டவன் என்று உம்முடைய தகப்பனார் ஜனங்களுக்கு உறுதியாய் ஆணையிட்டிருக்கிறார்; ஆகையினால் ஜனங்கள் விடாய்த்திருக்கிறார்கள் என்றான். Then answered one of the people, and said, Thy father straitly charged the people with an oath, saying, Cursed be the man that eateth any food this day. And the people were faint.

29 அப்பொழுது யோனத்தான்: என் தகப்பன் தேசத்தின் ஜனங்களைக் கலக்கப்படுத்தினார்; நான் இந்தத் தேனிலே கொஞ்சம் ருசிபார்த்ததினாலே, என் கண்கள் தெளிந்ததைப் பாருங்கள். Then said Jonathan, My father hath troubled the land: see, I pray you, how mine eyes have been enlightened, because I tasted a little of this honey.

30 இன்றையதினம் ஜனங்கள் தங்களுக்கு அகப்பட்ட தங்கள் சத்துருக்களின் கொள்ளையிலே ஏதாகிலும் புசித்திருந்தால், எத்தனை நலமாயிருக்கும்; பெலிஸ்தருக்குள் உண்டான சங்காரம் மிகவும் அதிகமாயிருக்குமே என்றான். How much more, if haply the people had eaten freely to day of the spoil of their enemies which they found? for had there not been now a much greater slaughter among the Philistines?

31 அவர்கள் அன்றையதினம் மிக்மாசிலிருந்து ஆயலோன்மட்டும் பெலிஸ்தரை முறிய அடித்தபோது, ஜனங்கள் மிகவும் விடாயத்திருந்தார்கள். And they smote the Philistines that day from Michmash to Aijalon: and the people were very faint.

32 அப்பொழுது ஜனங்கள் கொள்ளையின்மேல் பாய்ந்து, ஆடுகளையும் மாடுகளையும் கன்றுக்குட்டிகளையும் பிடித்து, தரையிலே போட்டு அடித்து, இரத்தத்தோடும் புசித்தார்கள். And the people flew upon the spoil, and took sheep, and oxen, and calves, and slew them on the ground: and the people did eat them with the blood.

33 அப்பொழுது: இதோ, இரத்தத்தோடிருக்கிறதைப் புசிக்கிறதினால் ஜனங்கள் கர்த்தருக்கு ஏலாத பாவம் செய்கிறார்கள் என்று சவுலுக்கு அறிவித்தார்கள்; அவன்: நீங்கள் துரோகம்பண்ணினீர்கள்; இப்போதே ஒரு பெரிய கல்லை என்னிடத்தில் உருட்டிக்கொண்டுவாருங்கள். And Saul asked counsel of God, Shall I go down after the Philistines? wilt thou deliver them into the hand of Israel? But he answered him not that day.

38 அப்பொழுது சவுல்: ஜனத்தின் தலைவர்களே, நீங்கள் எல்லாரும் இங்கே சேர்ந்துவந்து, இன்று இந்தப் பாவம் எதினாலே உண்டாயிற்று என்று பார்த்தறியுங்கள். And Saul said, Draw ye near hither, all the chief of the people: and know and see wherein this sin hath been this day.

39 அது என் குமாரனாகிய யோனத்தானிடத்தில் காணப்பட்டாலும், அவன் சாகவே சாகவேண்டும் என்று இஸ்ரவேலை ரட்சிக்கிற கர்த்தருடைய ஜீவனைக் கொண்டு சொல்லுகிறேன் என்றான்; சகல ஜனங்களுக்குள்ளும் ஒருவனும் அவனுக்குப் பிரதியுத்தரம் சொல்லவில்லை. For, as the LORD liveth, which saveth Israel, though it be in Jonathan my son, he shall surely die. But there was not a man among all the people that answered him.

Then said he unto all Israel, Be ye on one side, and I and Jonathan my son will be on the other side. And the people said unto Saul, Do what seemeth good unto thee.

41 அப்பொழுது சவுல் இஸ்ரவேலின் தேவனாகிய கர்த்தரை நோக்கி: நிதானமாய்க் கட்டளையிட்டு யதார்த்தத்தை விளங்கப்பண்ணும் என்றான்; அப்பொழுது யோனத்தான்மேலும் சவுலின் மேலும் சீட்டு விழுந்தது, ஜனங்களோ தப்பினார்கள். Therefore Saul said unto the LORD God of Israel, Give a perfect lot. And Saul and Jonathan were taken: but the people escaped.

42 எனக்கும் என் குமாரனாகிய யோனத்தானுக்கும் சீட்டுப்போடுங்கள் என்று சவுல் சொன்னபோது, யோனத்தான்மேல் சீட்டு விழுந்தது. And Saul said, Cast lots between me and Jonathan my son. And Jonathan was taken.

43 அப்பொழுது சவுல் யோனத்தானைப்பார்த்து: நீ செய்தது என்ன? எனக்குச் சொல் என்று கேட்டான். அதற்கு யோனத்தான்: என் கையில் இருக்கிற கோலின் நுனியினாலே கொஞ்சம் தேன் எடுத்து ருசிபார்த்தேன்; அதற்காக நான் சாகவேண்டும் என்றான். Then Saul said to Jonathan, Tell me what thou hast done. And Jonathan told him, and said, I did but taste a little honey with the end of the rod that was in mine hand, and, lo, I must die.

44 அப்பொழுது சவுல்: யோனத்தானே, நீ சாகத்தான்வேண்டும்; இல்லாவிட்டால் தேவன் எனக்கு அதற்குச் சரியாகவும் அதற்கு அதிகமாகவும் செய்யக்கடவர் என்றான். And Saul answered, God do so and more also: for thou shalt surely die, Jonathan.

45 ஜனங்களோ சவுலை நோக்கி: இஸ்ரவேலிலே இந்தப் பெரிய இரட்சிப்பைச் செய்த யோனத்தான் கொலைசெய்யப்படலாமா? அது கூடாது; அவன் தலையில் இருக்கிற ஒரு மயிரும் தரையிலே விழப்போகிறதில்லை என்று கர்த்தருடைய ஜீவனைக்கொண்டு ஆணையிட்டுச் சொல்லுகிறோம்; தேவன் துணை நிற்க அவன் இன்று காரியத்தை நடப்பித்தான் என்றார்கள்; அப்படியே யோனத்தான் சாகாதபடிக்கு, ஜனங்கள் அவனைத் தப்புவித்தார்கள். And the people said unto Saul, Shall Jonathan die, who hath wrought this great salvation in Israel? God forbid: as the LORD liveth, there shall not one hair of his head fall to the ground; for he hath wrought with God this day. So the people rescued Jonathan, that he died not.

24 Isravaelar antaiyathinam mikuntha varuththam atainthaarkal: naan en saththurukkal kaiyilae palivaanga vaenndum, saayangaalamattum poraுkkaamal evan pojanam seykiraano avan sapikkappattavan entu savul janangalukku aannaiyittuch solliyirunthapatiyaal, janangalil oruvarum evvalavaenum pojanampannnnaathirunthaarkal. And the men of Israel were distressed that day: for Saul had adjured the people, saying, Cursed be the man that eateth any food until evening, that I may be avenged on mine enemies. So none of the people tasted any food.

25 Thaesaththu janangal ellaarum oru kaattilae vanthaarkal; angae veliyilae thaenkoodu kattiyirunthathu. And all they of the land came to a wood; and there was honey upon the ground.

26 Janangal kaattilae vanthapothu, itho, thaen olukikkonntirunthathu; aanaalum oruvanum athaith than kaiyinaalae thottuth than vaayil vaikkavillai; janangal antha aannaiyinimiththam payappattarkal. And when the people were come into the wood, behold, the honey dropped; but no man put his hand to his mouth: for the people feared the oath.

27 Yonaththaan than thakappan janangalukku aannaiyittathaik kaelvippadavillai; avan than kaiyiliruntha kolaineetti, athin nuniyinaalae thaenkoottaைk kuththi, athai eduththuth than vaayilae pottukkonndaan; athinaal avan kannkal thelinthathu. But Jonathan heard not when his father charged the people with the oath: wherefore he put forth the end of the rod that was in his hand, and dipped it in an honeycomb, and put his hand to his mouth; and his eyes were enlightened.

28 Appoluthu janangalil oruvan: intaikku pojanam saappidukiravan sapikkappattavan entu ummutaiya thakappanaar janangalukku uraுthiyaay aannaiyittirukkiraar; aakaiyinaal janangal vidaayththirukkiraarkal entan. Then answered one of the people, and said, Thy father straitly charged the people with an oath, saying, Cursed be the man that eateth any food this day. And the people were faint.

29 Appoluthu yonaththaan: en thakappan thaesaththin janangalaik kalakkappaduththinaar; naan inthath thaenilae konjam rusipaarththathinaalae, en kannkal thelinthathaip paarungal. Then said Jonathan, My father hath troubled the land: see, I pray you, how mine eyes have been enlightened, because I tasted a little of this honey.

30 Intaiyathinam janangal thangalukku akappatta thangal saththurukkalin kollaiyilae aethaakilum pusiththirunthaal, eththanai nalamaayirukkum; pelistharukkul unndaana sangaaram mikavum athikamaayirukkumae entan. How much more, if haply the people had eaten freely to day of the spoil of their enemies which they found? for had there not been now a much greater slaughter among the Philistines?

31 Avarkal antaiyathinam mikmaasilirunthu aayalonmattum pelistharai muriya atiththapothu, janangal mikavum vidaayaththirunthaarkal. And they smote the Philistines that day from Michmash to Aijalon: and the people were very faint.

32 Appoluthu janangal kollaiyinmael paaynthu, aadukalaiyum maadukalaiyum kantukkuttikalaiyum pitiththu, tharaiyilae pottu atiththu, iraththaththodum pusiththaarkal. And the people flew upon the spoil, and took sheep, and oxen, and calves, and slew them on the ground: and the people did eat them with the blood.

33 Appoluthu: itho, iraththaththotirukkirathaip pusikkirathinaal janangal karththarukku aelaatha paavam seykiraarkal entu savulukku ariviththaarkal; avan: neengal thurokampannnnineerkal; ippothae oru periya kallai ennidaththil uruttikkonnduvaarungal. Then they told Saul, saying, Behold, the people sin against the LORD, in that they eat with the blood. And he said, Ye have transgressed: roll a great stone unto me this day.

34 Neengal janaththirkullae poy, iraththaththotirukkirathach saappidukirathinaalae, karththarukku aelaatha paavam seyyaathapatikku, avaravar thangal maattaைyum avaravar thangal aattaைyum ennidaththil konnduvanthu, ingae atiththu, pinpu saappidavaenndum entu avarkalukkuch sollungal entu kattalaiyittan; aakaiyaal janangal ellaarum avaravar thangal maadukalai antu iraaththiri thaangalae konndu vanthu, angae atiththaarkal. And Saul said, Disperse yourselves among the people, and say unto them, Bring me hither every man his ox, and every man his sheep, and slay them here, and eat; and sin not against the LORD in eating with the blood. And all the people brought every man his ox with him that night, and slew them there.

35 Pinpu savul karththarukku oru palipeedaththaik kattinaan; athu avan karththarukkuk kattina muthalaavathu palipeedam. And Saul built an altar unto the LORD: the same was the first altar that he built unto the LORD.

36 Atharkuppinpu savul: naam intha iraaththiriyilae pelistharaith thodarnthupoy, vitiyarkaala velichchamaakumattum avarkalaik kollaiyittu, avarkalil oruvaraiyum meethiyaaka vaikkaathiruppomaaka entan. Atharku avarkal: ummutaiya kannkalukku nalamaanapatiyellaam seyyum entarkal. Aasaariyano: naam ingae thaevasannithiyil serakkadavom entan. And Saul said, Let us go down after the Philistines by night, and spoil them until the morning light, and let us not leave a man of them. And they said, Do whatsoever seemeth good unto thee. 37 Appatiyae: pelistharaith thodarnthupokalaamaa? Avarkalai isravaelin kaiyil oppukkoduppeeraa? Entu savul thaevanidaththil visaariththaan; avar antha naalilae avanukku maraுuththaravu arulavillai. And Saul asked counsel of God, Shall I go down after the Philistines? wilt thou deliver them into the hand of Israel? But he answered him not that day.

38 Appoluthu savul: janaththin thalaivarkalae, neengal ellaarum ingae sernthuvanthu, intu inthap paavam ethinaalae unndaayittaு entu paarththariyungal. And Saul said, Draw ye near hither, all the chief of the people: and know and see wherein this sin hath been this day.

39 Athu en kumaaranaakiya yonaththaanidaththil kaanappattalum, avan saakavae saakavaenndum entu isravaelai ratchikkira karththarutaiya jeevanaik konndu sollukiraேn entan; sakala janangalukkullum oruvanum avanukkup pirathiyuththaram sollavillai. For, as the LORD liveth, which saveth Israel, though it be in Jonathan my son, he shall surely die. But there was not a man among all the people that answered him.

40 Atharkuppin avan isravaelar ellaaraiyum Nnokki: neengal anthappakkaththilae irungal; naanum en kumaaranaakiya yonaththaanum inthappakkaththil iruppom entan; janangal savulaip paarththu: ummutaiya kannkalukku nalamaanapati seyyum entarkal. Then said he unto all Israel, Be ye on one side, and I and Jonathan my son will be on the other side. And the people said unto Saul, Do what seemeth good unto thee.

41 Appoluthu savul isravaelin thaevanaakiya karththarai Nnokki: nithaanamaayk kattalaiyittu yathaarththaththai vilangappannnum entan; appoluthu yonaththaanmaelum savulin maelum seettu vilunthathu, janangalo thappinaarkal. Therefore Saul said unto the LORD God of Israel, Give a perfect lot. And Saul and Jonathan were taken: but the people escaped.

42 Enakkum en kumaaranaakiya yonaththaanukkum seettuppodungal entu savul sonnapothu, yonaththaanmael seettu vilunthathu. And Saul said, Cast lots between me and Jonathan my son. And Jonathan was taken.

43 Appoluthu savul yonaththaanaippaarththu: nee seythathu enna? Enakkuch sol entu kaettan. Atharku yonaththaan: en kaiyil irukkira kolin nuniyinaalae konjam thaen eduththu rusipaarththaen; atharkaaka naan saakavaenndum entan. Then Saul said to Jonathan, Tell me what thou hast done. And Jonathan told him, and said, I did but taste a little honey with the end of the rod that was in mine hand, and, lo, I must die.

44 Appoluthu savul: yonaththaanae, nee saakaththaanvaenndum; illaavittal Dhevan enakku atharkuch sariyaakavum atharku athikamaakavum seyyakkadavar entan. And Saul answered, God do so and more also: for thou shalt surely die, Jonathan.

45 Janangalo savulai Nnokki: isravaelilae inthap periya iratchippaich seytha yonaththaan kolaiseyyappadalaamaa? Athu koodaathu; avan thalaiyil irukkira oru mayirum tharaiyilae vilappokirathillai entu karththarutaiya jeevanaikkonndu aannaiyittuch sollukirom; Dhevan thunnai nirka avan intu kaariyaththai nadappiththaan entarkal; appatiyae yonaththaan saakaathapatikku, janangal avanaith thappuviththaarkal. And the people said unto Saul, Shall Jonathan die, who hath wrought this great salvation in Israel? God forbid: as the LORD liveth, there shall not one hair of his head fall to the ground; for he hath wrought with God this day. So the people rescued Jonathan, that he died not.
